US Tax Statute Analyst
Job Description
Turn tax legislation into precise review criteria and test whether an AI interpretation preserves the law’s conditions and exceptions.
What you will do
• Read sales-and-use-tax provisions across US states, with occasional federal provisions.
• Write independent checklists of statutory requirements and assign severity according to their legal significance.
• Score formal interpretations against the text, including thresholds, AND/OR logic, defined terms and exceptions.
• Create self-contained failure examples with explicit facts, dates, amounts and expected results.
• Flag genuine ambiguity and submit structured, reproducible written evaluations.
Required background
• An active CPA license, Chartered Accountant designation or experience as a US tax attorney.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret tax statutes and regulations beyond return preparation.
• Comfort with legal logic and careful attention to exceptions and edge cases.
• Precise writing and the ability to submit structured feedback through a digital review interface.
Preferred background
• Sales-and-use-tax or broader state-and-local-tax statutory experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience across several states, an Enrolled Agent designation or relevant federal-tax work.
• Experience reviewing AI tax content or training others through written legal or tax feedback.
• Interest in technology and tax compliance.
