Undergraduate Research Contributor
Job Description
Apply academic subject knowledge to evaluate and write specialist material, including visual and diagrammatic evidence.
What you will do
• Assess content for disciplinary accuracy, depth and quality.
• Identify subtle errors, ambiguous claims and gaps that require subject expertise.
• Interpret relevant diagrams, spectra, maps, clinical imagery, artworks or data graphics.
• Document the rationale for each assessment and complete agreed annotation work.
Required background
• Current junior or senior undergraduate standing at a research university, with a strong academic record.
• Ability to explain subject-specific judgments clearly and logically.
• Knowledge of the visual conventions and specialist vocabulary used in your field.
• Strong English writing, reliable internet and availability for remote asynchronous work.
Preferred background
• Research experience, especially visual or image-based work using microscopy, imaging, CAD, GIS, spectroscopy, diagrams or archival materials.
• Annotation, labeling or AI evaluation experience.
• Study in a well-regarded research program in the discipline.
• Familiarity with AI, LLMs or multimodal tools.
• Training in quantitative methods.
Availability
• Asynchronous remote work arranged around academic commitments. Agree the weekly workload for each accepted assignment before starting.
Pay and engagement
$840–$1575/project week
Amounts are in USD. The applicable rate or fee and work requirements are agreed before you begin.
