Senior Engineering Systems Reasoning Evaluator
Job Description
IXO is engaging specialists to evaluate the use of engineering software to solve practical technical problems. Your contribution is technical work: make the reasoning inspectable, identify substantive errors and provide evidence that supports a reliable assessment.
Work you will do
• Develop engineering scenarios that require the appropriate software, data and reasoning to reach a defensible result.
• Check model outputs for correctness, workflow quality and consistency with physical or design constraints.
• Document reference approaches and precise feedback that connects software behavior to the underlying engineering judgment.
Required background and routes
• At least a bachelor's in computing or related engineering and four or more years shipping production software or engineered systems; coursework and internships alone do not satisfy the experience requirement.
• Senior-level progression and real design ownership in a specialty such as distributed backends, cryptography/security, firmware, ML infrastructure, developer platforms or test engineering.
• Use language models in professional technical work and judge their reasoning critically.
Preferred background
• A master's or doctorate, plus evidence such as shipped systems, patents, technical publications or open-source contributions.
Deliverables
Submit the completed technical artifact or assessment with its supporting evidence, explicit assumptions, reproducible checks where applicable, and concise reasons for each material judgment. Address review findings within the agreed scope.
Location and schedule
Remote assignments are scheduled by agreement, with no guaranteed weekly volume. Availability planning can include 40 hours per week depending on the track. Indicative assignment lengths include 6 months. IXO confirms the applicable timing before work.
Pay and working terms
$70 • $115/hr USD. The agreed hourly rate, scope, schedule and acceptance criteria are confirmed before work starts. Applying does not guarantee an assignment.
