Physics Research Specialist
Job Description
Solve advanced physics problems with explicit assumptions and reproducible analytical or computational checks.
What you will do
• Produce rigorous derivations and analyses in your physics specialty.
• Present assumptions, approximations and results using LaTeX.
• Use SymPy, Python or Jupyter for symbolic/numerical checking where appropriate.
• Examine boundary conditions, dimensions, exceptional cases and ambiguities.
• Revise solutions after review while maintaining clear research documentation.
Required background
• Ability to provide rigorous specialist physics reasoning and clear technical solutions.
Preferred background
• A physics PhD or advanced doctoral candidacy with active research.
• Expertise in high-energy, mathematical, biological, statistical, condensed-matter (including moiré systems, magnetism and PXP/Rydberg models), AMO/quantum-optical, gravitational, cosmological, astrophysical, quantum-information or optical-materials physics.
• Two to five representative publications from approximately the past five years, with accessible arXiv/DOI references.
• LaTeX and relevant SymPy/Python/Jupyter competence, with any support needs identified.
• Clear scientific writing and strong analytical reasoning.
• Availability through an 8–10-week period, around 10 hours weekly.
Location and eligibility
• Open worldwide.
Availability
• Fully remote and flexible. Estimate 10–15• hours weekly; availability for about 10 hours each week through an 8–10-week period is preferred. Agree the actual commitment before work.
Pay and engagement
$105–$210/hr
