Nursing Informatics Specialist
Job Description
Nurses are at the heart of patient care, and their workflows are increasingly supported by technology. As a Nursing Informatics Specialist, your unique blend of clinical and technical expertise will be vital in training AI to understand nursing processes, optimize clinical documentation, and enhance patient safety through intelligent systems.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate AI-generated responses and recommendations related to nursing workflows, clinical documentation, and the application of informatics in nursing practice.
Assess the accuracy, clinical relevance, and usability of AI outputs concerning electronic medication administration records (eMARs), nursing care plans, and clinical decision support for nurses.
Provide detailed, constructive feedback to guide AI in understanding the nuances of nursing assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes within an informatics context.
Develop realistic scenarios involving nursing documentation challenges, alarm fatigue, and the integration of new technologies into nursing practice.
Identify and correct factual errors, misinterpretations of nursing standards (e.g., ANA, TJC), or inappropriate technological solutions in AI's content.
Contribute to the creation of gold-standard responses for optimizing nursing efficiency and patient safety through informatics.
Ideal Qualifications
Registered Nurse (RN) with an active, unrestricted license (any US state).
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing Informatics or equivalent experience.
Minimum 3 years of experience as a Nursing Informatics Specialist or a similar role.
Strong knowledge of EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner) from a nursing perspective, clinical documentation standards, and nursing terminologies (e.g., SNOMED CT, NANDA).
Understanding of human-computer interaction principles and usability in healthcare.
Excellent communication skills and ability to bridge the gap between clinical and technical domains.
