Mechanical Product Design Engineer
Job Description
Develop and assess mechanical designs, engineering analyses and manufacturing documentation.
What you will do
• Create and revise CAD models for components, assemblies and systems.
• Prepare drawings, bills of materials and supporting manufacturing documentation.
• Analyze stress, tolerances and manufacturability.
• Support design work from concept and prototypes to production-ready documentation, recording assumptions and decisions.
Required background
• Two to four years in mechanical engineering, product design or related professional work.
• Strong skills in a major CAD system such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360, CATIA or NX.
• Ability to produce detailed designs and drawings to engineering standards.
• Independent technical problem-solving ability.
• At least a bachelor’s qualification in mechanical engineering, product design or a related engineering subject.
Preferred background
• FEA or simulation experience with tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus or SolidWorks Simulation.
• Knowledge of CNC, injection molding, sheet metal or additive manufacturing.
• Experience in hardware startups or product-development environments.
• Systems integration, mechatronics or electromechanical design.
Availability
• Remote, asynchronous work planned at 10–20 hours weekly over a two-to-three-week period; confirm scope and timing before starting.
