As a Swahili Language Expert, you will be at the forefront of this effort, generating and evaluating high-quality Swahili text data to train sophisticated AI models, ensuring they understand and communicate effectively in one of East Africa's most prominent languages, bridging technological gaps and fostering inclusion.
Key Responsibilities
Generate diverse and culturally relevant Swahili text data, including conversational phrases, factual statements, and creative content.
Evaluate AI-generated Swahili text for grammatical correctness, semantic accuracy, and naturalness.
Evaluate Swahili text for linguistic features such as part-of-speech, named entities, and sentiment.
Identify and correct errors in machine translation outputs from/to Swahili.
Provide expert feedback on the cultural appropriateness and contextual relevance of AI responses.
Contribute to the development of Swahili-specific NLP guidelines and best practices.
Ideal Qualifications
Native fluency in Swahili with a deep understanding of its grammar, syntax, and regional variations.
Strong cultural knowledge of East African societies where Swahili is spoken.
Experience in translation, localization, content creation, or linguistic analysis for Swahili.
Familiarity with NLP concepts and data evaluation tools (e.g., Prodigy, Labelbox) is a plus.
Exceptional written communication skills and meticulous attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and adhere to strict data quality standards.
