Job Description
The widespread use of Bahasa Melayu across Southeast Asia makes it a critical language for global AI expansion. As a Malay Language Expert, you will be pivotal in creating and evaluating the foundational training data that teaches AI models to understand and generate text in Bahasa Melayu, meticulously distinguishing between Malaysian and Indonesian variants to ensure precise and culturally relevant communication.
Key Responsibilities
Create diverse Bahasa Melayu training data, including conversational text, formal documents, and domain-specific content.
Evaluate AI-generated Malay text for grammatical correctness, semantic accuracy, and naturalness, specifically noting Malaysian vs. Indonesian nuances.
Evaluate Malay text for linguistic features such as part-of-speech, named entities, and sentiment, highlighting regional differences.
Identify and correct errors in machine translation outputs from/to Bahasa Melayu.
Provide expert feedback on the cultural appropriateness and contextual relevance of AI responses in both Malaysian and Indonesian contexts.
Contribute to the development of Bahasa Melayu-specific NLP guidelines and best practices.
Ideal Qualifications
Native fluency in Bahasa Melayu, with a strong understanding of both Malaysian and Indonesian variants.
Deep knowledge of Malay grammar, syntax, and cultural context across the region.
Experience in translation, localization, content creation, or linguistic analysis for Bahasa Melayu.
Familiarity with NLP concepts and data evaluation tools (e.g., Prodigy, Labelbox) is a plus.
Exceptional written communication skills and meticulous attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and adhere to strict data quality standards.
