Patent Agent
Job Description
Develop patent-prosecution exercises and assess technical and procedural reasoning. Explain what makes a claim or response defensible, using registered-practitioner experience.
What you will do
• Build examples involving prior art, claim drafting and office-action responses.
• Write reference analyses showing the technical and legal reasoning behind a decision.
• Assess claim quality, technical accuracy and prosecution procedure.
• Identify plausible drafting that would fail to address USPTO requirements.
Required background
• USPTO registration as a patent agent or patent attorney.
• At least two years of patent-prosecution experience.
• Depth in claim drafting, prior-art analysis and office-action responses.
• Clear English explanations and availability for at least 10 hours each week.
Preferred background
• An advanced engineering or science degree.
• Experience across technologies or mentoring junior patent drafters.
Availability
• Remote, asynchronous work; minimum 10 hours weekly.
Pay and engagement
$95 • $132/hr
All amounts are in USD. The rate, task scope and schedule are agreed before work begins.
