Insurance Policy Analyst
Job Description
Analyze policy wording and coverage questions, and explain whether a conclusion is supported by the contract and applicable insurance requirements.
What you will do
• Interpret declarations, insuring agreements, conditions, exclusions and endorsements across relevant insurance lines.
• Compare policies, identify coverage gaps and assess filing or regulatory compliance.
• Test the accuracy and consistency of coverage determinations and technical interpretations.
• Document the reasoning behind each conclusion so another reviewer can reproduce it.
Required background
• One to three years in policy analysis, coverage analysis, policy services, compliance or similar professional work.
• Working knowledge of policy structure, forms, filings, rating factors, limits, deductibles and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to interpret policy language independently and explain a coverage conclusion.
• A bachelor’s degree or higher in risk management, insurance, finance, business or a related subject, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred background
• Experience across several insurance lines.
• CPCU, AINS, API, ARM, state licensing or progress toward an appropriate designation.
• Knowledge of ISO forms, state filing rules or NAIC model laws.
• Experience with policy tools such as Guidewire, Duck Creek or Applied Epic.
Availability
• Remote and asynchronous, typically 10–20 hours weekly for accepted assignments lasting two to three weeks.
Pay and engagement
$79/hour • $840 onboarding
Amounts are in USD.
Your hourly rate and scope are agreed before work begins.
A separate one-time onboarding completion payment of $840 USD is paid after you complete the agreed onboarding requirements.
IXO confirms those requirements before you begin. This payment is separate from the continuing work rate.
