Enterprise Planning Case Design Specialist
Job Description
The opportunity
IXO is seeking experienced FP&A leaders to turn consequential planning decisions into realistic AI evaluation work. The role emphasizes how a finance team connects operating drivers, financial results and management choices, including situations where a template does not supply the answer.
Develop the complete planning exercise
Build a case from its business question through the reference work product and the criteria used to assess an AI attempt.
• Create budgeting, forecasting and variance-analysis tasks that reconcile financial outcomes to the drivers behind them.
• Develop finance-business-partnering scenarios, explaining what the operating team needs to know and which assumptions require challenge.
• Build capital-allocation and investment business cases, showing the alternatives and the consequences of changing a key input.
• Use driver-based planning, scenarios and sensitivity analysis to test whether the recommendation remains defensible under uncertainty.
• Write grading criteria that reward sound professional judgment and penalize unsupported reasoning, even when the output is well presented.
Expected outputs include reference models, forecast presentations, variance reports, business cases and evaluation rubrics. Explain both the numerical result and the management decision it supports, with enough documentation for another reviewer to follow the reasoning.
Experience profile
The ideal candidate has five or more years as an FP&A leader or director, or as a CFO at a major company, with personal ownership of budgets, forecasts or capital allocation. Strong financial modeling, corporate-finance knowledge and practical command of planning tools are central to the role.
Relevant systems include Anaplan, Adaptive Insights and Planful, enterprise ERP tools, and reporting or visualization platforms such as Tableau and Power BI. You may work in US GAAP or IFRS practice; expertise in both reporting tracks is not required.
CFA, MBA or CPA qualifications are preferred. Previous authorship of training content or scoring rubrics is useful, rather than a substitute for planning responsibility.
Engagement and pay
Remote IXO expert work pays $85 • $110/hr USD. About 40 hours per week is an indicative planning level; actual scope, hours, duration and rate will be agreed before starting. Assignment selection follows relevant expertise.
