Job Description
The opportunity
IXO is recruiting specialists with direct knowledge of a central bank outside the G7. Each assignment is tied to a particular country and source language. The work tests whether an AI system recognizes what a policy communication changes, how it fits the bank’s behavior and what the market might reasonably infer at that time.
Your analytical contribution
Read the original statement, meeting minutes or speech alongside earlier communications and prevailing market expectations.
• Explain changes in wording, emphasis or guidance that matter to the bank’s policy outlook.
• Assess the message on a calibrated hawkish-to-dovish scale and document the evidence behind that judgment.
• Trace plausible implications for local interest rates, foreign exchange and equities, separating a directional assessment from unsupported precision.
• Grade AI interpretations for bank-specific understanding, evidential support and consistency with the information available at the task’s cutoff.
Outputs include dated policy interpretations, calibrated scores, market-impact explanations and written evaluations. A good answer should show what changed and why, while recognizing when the communication leaves several outcomes open.
Required background
You should be a former economist or adviser at the relevant central bank, or a senior local rates/FX strategist who has covered it through multiple policy cycles. Professional fluency in its source language and detailed knowledge of its reaction function and communication practices are essential. The usual experience level is eight or more years of direct practice; exceptional equivalent evidence can also qualify. Broad global-macro familiarity alone is insufficient.
Experience at the bank itself, the BIS, IMF, major local institutions, emerging-market bank teams or established macro funds is helpful. Institutional prestige is not a requirement: direct experience and the quality of a relevant work sample matter more.
Engagement and pay
Remote IXO expert work pays $160 • $260/hr USD. Approximately 20 hours per week is an indicative planning level; actual hours, duration, scope and rate will be agreed before work starts. Country assignments depend on demonstrated expertise.
