Drug-Asset Investment Assessment Specialist
Job Description
The opportunity
IXO is seeking US-based biotech and healthcare investment analysts for paid reviews of commercial drugs, development programs and the businesses behind them. The work requires an investment view that connects scientific evidence with competitive position and value, rather than a clinical summary or a generic company model.
How the review works
For each assigned company or program, examine the reasoning behind the proposed investment assessment and make its strengths and weaknesses explicit.
• Analyze the drug’s mechanism, development context and clinical evidence, identifying the conclusions that the available results can support.
• Assess competing programs and the factors that could change the asset’s commercial or strategic position.
• Connect asset-level judgments to company-level value drivers, explaining which assumptions carry the investment thesis.
• Identify missing evidence, overconfident claims and assumptions that are treated as facts in an AI-generated assessment.
• Develop or critique evaluation rubrics so that another reviewer can distinguish a sound thesis from an attractive but weakly supported narrative.
Deliver a clear asset and company assessment, supporting rationale and practical grading criteria. The evaluation should be comprehensive enough to explain how clinical, competitive and business information combine, while making unresolved questions visible.
Required experience
You must be based in the United States and have at least five years evaluating biotech or pharmaceutical assets or companies. Specialist-fund experience is required, together with a strong understanding of drug development and the ability to assess both an individual program and its wider business. Describe the investment decisions and analyses you personally performed; no additional degree or professional designation is required by this listing.
Engagement and pay
This is a remote IXO expert engagement paying $130 • $210/hr USD. An indicative initial project may cover approximately five to ten companies and 10–20 total hours over one to two weeks. The final company set, paid scope, timetable and agreed rate will be confirmed with IXO before starting. Further work may be considered after successful delivery, without a guarantee of recurring assignments.
