Atmospheric Science Expert
Job Description
Understanding Earth's dynamic atmosphere is critical for predicting weather, modeling climate, and ensuring aviation safety. As an Atmospheric Science Expert, you will be crucial in training AI models to master meteorology, climate modeling, and atmospheric physics, enabling them to interpret and forecast atmospheric phenomena.
Why This Role Matters
Your specialized knowledge of atmospheric processes, from synoptic meteorology to radiative transfer, is essential for teaching AI to accurately analyze weather patterns, simulate climate scenarios, and understand atmospheric chemistry. You'll empower AI to become a powerful tool for weather forecasting, climate research, and environmental monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
Develop comprehensive training data for meteorological concepts, including atmospheric dynamics, thermodynamics, cloud physics, and severe weather phenomena.
Create detailed explanations and problem solutions for climate modeling principles, general circulation models (GCMs), and regional climate models.
Formulate and elaborate on concepts in atmospheric physics, such as radiative transfer, boundary layer processes, and atmospheric optics.
Evaluate AI-generated weather forecasts, climate projections, and atmospheric data interpretations, correcting scientific inaccuracies and methodological flaws.
Design training content on atmospheric chemistry, air pollution transport, and stratospheric ozone depletion.
Provide expert feedback on AI's ability to interpret satellite imagery, radar data, and other observational atmospheric datasets.
Ideal Qualifications
Master's or PhD in Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, Climate Science, or a closely related geophysical field.
Extensive experience with atmospheric data analysis, numerical weather prediction (NWP) models, or climate models.
Deep understanding of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and radiative processes relevant to the atmosphere.
Proficiency with scientific programming languages (e.g., Python, Fortran, MATLAB) for atmospheric data manipulation.
Exceptional ability to articulate complex atmospheric phenomena and theoretical frameworks with precision.
Familiarity with reanalysis datasets (e.g., ERA5, NCEP/NCAR) and observational platforms.
Project Timeline
Start Date: Immediate
Duration: Ongoing, long-term project
• Commitment: Flexible, project-based tasks, estimated 15-30 hours/week.
