Job Description
Accurate transcription of air traffic control (ATC) communications is paramount for aviation safety and the development of next-generation AI-powered air traffic management systems. As an Aviation Communications Transcriber, you will play a critical role in converting complex, fast-paced ATC audio into precise text data, directly contributing to safer skies and advanced AI solutions for air navigation.
Key Responsibilities
Transcribe live and recorded air traffic control communications, including pilot-controller exchanges and ground control instructions.
Accurately capture aviation-specific terminology, call signs, altitudes, headings, and clearances.
Identify and correctly transcribe non-standard phraseology, accents, and radio interference.
Evaluate audio for speaker identification, speech events (e.g., readbacks, acknowledgments), and environmental sounds.
Ensure strict adherence to transcription guidelines, including formatting and timestamping protocols.
Review and quality-check transcribed data for precision and completeness.
Ideal Qualifications
Extensive knowledge of aviation terminology, phraseology, and air traffic control procedures (e.g., ICAO standards).
Prior experience as an Air Traffic Controller, pilot, flight dispatcher, or aviation ground staff is highly preferred.
Exceptional listening skills and ability to discern speech in noisy or challenging audio environments.
Proficiency with transcription software and evaluation tools (e.g., Trint, TranscribeMe, proprietary platforms).
High typing speed and accuracy (minimum 70 WPM).
Strong attention to detail and commitment to data integrity in a safety-critical domain.
